Readings for Tueday Feb. 31

Hi guys. Courtney here. I just realized that my syllabus for class is missing, and I am hoping that someone can tell me what the readings are for Tuesday..... just post it on the blog if you know please!
Also I was thinking about my project for this class and I have a lot of ideas- that none of you are allowed to steal! But I am willing to bounce ideas off of each other!
I could do something about the way social networking is different from say 30 years ago
OR
I could do something about how fan culture has gone crazy on the internet
OR
Something about the effects of the Disney channel on kids these days! YIKES!

As you can see I am all oer the place and I need some help, so let me know what you guys think on these!

State of the Union

Watching the state of the union speech was very interseting. I enjoyed listening to Obama speak but I enjoyed the people they zoomed in on when he brought up a topic that related to them the most. Financial reform and the dont ask dont tell were two very interseting reactions by the people who were involved in those topics. When Obama said that he wanted to let anyone fight for the country they love everyone stood up to cheer except the top dog generals who stared with a cold death stare at him. When He also said that he didn't want to punish the banks they zoomed in on someone, but he didn't seem very happy. It was almost like he wanted to stand up and shout, " you are punishing us." Obama made sure to hit every aspect from medical to small business credits and even though some may have been bothered by these commens, most people seemed to be quite happy about what was coming out of his mouth.

A Brave New World

The book Brave New World is a story that brings up a lot of thoughts of how far we as humans dip into the studies of cloning. You look at flight for example; It started out as every mans dream and inspiration only to be later used as a source to wipe out entire countrysides with nuclear bombs. In the book they discuss the alpha, beta, gamma, Delta, and epsilon embryos. Even when we take stem cell research out of the picture, the way they make these people form into a part of society before they even know who they are can also be related to how many of us are raised. We all go to school, sit in a desk and are told that unless we succeed in reading that book and filling out the paper than we will be considered failures. They use the term failure to say that you don't fit in there system. If you don't wear the suit and tie and obey what the man says than you will be punished, because we are all expected by our system to stay in factory order and do as they tell us to. Each embryo they have created has a piece to there puzzle and they brain wash them to the task at hand from an early age on and I feel like this is seen throughout many humans on this earth.
