A Brave New World
The book Brave New World is a story that brings up a lot of thoughts of how far we as humans dip into the studies of cloning. You look at flight for example; It started out as every mans dream and inspiration only to be later used as a source to wipe out entire countrysides with nuclear bombs. In the book they discuss the alpha, beta, gamma, Delta, and epsilon embryos. Even when we take stem cell research out of the picture, the way they make these people form into a part of society before they even know who they are can also be related to how many of us are raised. We all go to school, sit in a desk and are told that unless we succeed in reading that book and filling out the paper than we will be considered failures. They use the term failure to say that you don't fit in there system. If you don't wear the suit and tie and obey what the man says than you will be punished, because we are all expected by our system to stay in factory order and do as they tell us to. Each embryo they have created has a piece to there puzzle and they brain wash them to the task at hand from an early age on and I feel like this is seen throughout many humans on this earth.

I also feel that there is really a strong and defined parallel between the lives of people in Brave New World and the lives of people in our own world.
ReplyDeleteWhile the children/embryos in the story are being conditioned to do one specific thing forever depending on their level, the children in our society go through a similar, though broader, thing. Children are exposed to a wide variety of things that will eventually define who they are, and at some point one of those things will be extremely effective and change that child.
It might not be a job field or a way of life, it could be something as simple as what toy to ask for or where to eat. There is the constant barrage of media being force-fed to the child and whichever corporation gets to the child the most with its use of media essentially shapes that child's life.

Brave New World is an interesting book. I find the gender issues the most interesting and the question of morals with relationship, this is just a test to see if the comment will post.
